About these samples. Excerpts from work delivered between 2013 and 2015. Brand names, client names, document identifiers and every other identifying detail have been removed, and only short passages are shown rather than whole documents. No business shall be resumed before 3:00 PM. The employer shall provide an appropriate shelter for such Labour to rest therein during this period.

The decision. A decree creates obligations, so every shall in the English has to land as an obligation in Urdu rather than a prediction. The clock times stay in Western digits instead of Eastern Arabic numerals, because a site notice like this is read alongside the English version by an inspector who needs to check them against each other at a glance.

Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), a glycoprotein hormone secreted by viable placental tissue during pregnancy, is excreted in urine approximately 20 days after the last menstrual period. The levels of hCG rise rapidly reaching peak levels after 60-80 days.

ہیومن کرونِک گوناڈوٹروپن (ایچ سی جی)، حمل کے دوران زندہ جنین کے بافتوں سے نکلنے والا ایک گلائیکو پروٹین ہارمون ہے، جو گذشتہ حیض کے تقریباً 20 دنوں کے بعد پیشاب میں شامل ہوتا ہے۔ 60 تا 80 دنوں کے بعد ایچ سی جی کی سطحیں تیزی کے ساتھ بڑھتے ہوئے اعلیٰ ترین ہوجاتی ہیں۔

The decision. The hormone name is transliterated rather than translated, because a technician has to be able to match it to the English literature and to the abbreviation printed on the device. The surrounding physiology is translated properly. Inventing an Urdu word for a hormone would look more scholarly and be less useful.

The decision. Figures stay as figures. A press release lives or dies on whether the numbers survive intact, so 224,000 is not spelled out and the currency amounts keep their original form. The diplomatic euphemism non-lethal support is carried across as a euphemism rather than resolved into something blunter, because softening or sharpening it would both be editorial.

The decision. The names of the service and the programme are transliterated, not translated. An applicant will meet those exact words again on the government website and on the application form, and a beautifully translated name they cannot then find is worse than useless.

Two of these are into Urdu and two into Hindi. Marathi and Gujarati work is almost entirely into English, so samples in those pairs are certificates and evidentiary documents that cannot be shown even redacted. Ask and something appropriate can be arranged.
